Supported Software

Smooth operation of any computer system requires quality software. Campus software standards is a list of supported progams for most popular computing tasks. "Supported" in this context means:
  • That computing support staff know the program well enough to answer questions about it.
  • That other campus systems will interoperate well with it.
  • When possible the campus will negotiate purchase agreements to buy the programs at lower cost.
  • For most programs the Social Sciences Division will purchase the software for faculty, staff, lab, and grad student office machines. This means no direct charges to the faculty.
For computing tasks that cannot be reasonably done with campus standard software the computing group will support them as best as possible. But please be aware they are usually learning such software for the first time.

For computing tasks that could be done with campus standard software but the individual faculty or staff have chosen to use a non standard program there is no support offered by the computing group.
