Title:                            Cyberlearning: Transforming Education
Program:                     Through the Cyberlearning: Transforming Education program, NSF seeks to integrate advances in technology with advances in what is known about how people learn to
*better understand how people learn with technology and how technology can be used productively to help people learn, through individual use and/or through collaborations mediated by technology;
*better use technology for collecting, analyzing, sharing, and managing data to shed light on learning, promoting learning, and designing learning environments; and
*design new technologies for these purposes, and advance understanding of how to use those technologies and integrate them into learning environments so that their potential is fulfilled.
Of particular interest are technological advances that allow more personalized learning experiences, draw in and promote learning among those in populations not served well by current educational practices, allow access to learning resources anytime and anywhere, and provide new ways of assessing capabilities. It is expected that Cyberlearning research will shed light on how technology can enable new forms of educational practice and that broad implementation of its findings will result in a more actively-engaged and productive citizenry and workforce.

Title:                            Women and Minorities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Fields Program (WAMS)
Program:                     This program supports research and extension projects that have robust collaborations to increase the participation of women and underrepresented minorities from rural areas in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields that are relevant to USDA priorities identified by the Secretary: (i) Promotion of a safe, sufficient, and nutritious food supply for all Americans and for people around the world; (ii) Sustainable agricultural policies that foster economic viability for small and mid-sized farms and rural businesses, protect natural resources, and promote value-added agriculture; (iii) national leadership in climate change mitigation and adaptation; (iv) Building a modern workplace with a modern workforce; and (v) Support for 21st century rural communities.

Title:                            Regional Pest Management Centers
Program:                     The overarching goals of the Regional Integrated Pest Management Centers (IPM Centers) program are to improve the cost benefit analyses of adopting IPM practices and to reduce the environmental and human health risks associated with managing pests. The IPM Centers will promote the development and implementation of IPM by facilitating collaboration across states, disciplines, and purposes. They will serve as focal points for regional pest management information networks, collaborative team building, and broad-based stakeholder participation. The end result will be increased coordination of IPM research, education and extension efforts and enhanced responsiveness to critical, priority pest management and global food security challenges.

Title:                            Social Security Disability Research Consortium
Program:                     As authorized under section 1110 of the Social Security Act, SSA announces the solicitation of competitive applications for a five year cooperative agreement for a Disability Research Consortium (DRC). SSA seeks applications in support of the DRC that will serve as a national resource fostering high quality research, communication, and education on matters related to disability policy. The DRC is an interdisciplinary extramural policy research program funded by the SSA through a cooperative agreement. In addition to research, the DRC will disseminate research results and train graduate students and junior faculty. The expectation is that the DRC will foster more collaborative research across federal agencies as well as more collaboration among researchers in the federal government, academia, and research centers. Another important expectation is that research results will help policymakers improve service delivery, enhance coordination of services across programs, build on complementarities across programs, eliminate duplication and waste, and advance cooperation across federal agencies that serve people with disabilities.

Title:                            Fellowships for Advanced Social Science Research on Japan
Program:                     The Fellowship Program for Advanced Social Science Research on Japan is a joint activity of the Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission (JUSFC) and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Awards support research on modern Japanese society and political economy, Japan's international relations, and U.S.-Japan relations. The program encourages innovative research that puts these subjects in wider regional and global contexts and is comparative and contemporary in nature. Research should contribute to scholarly knowledge or to the general public’s understanding of issues of concern to Japan and the United States. Appropriate disciplines for the research include anthropology, economics, geography, history, international relations, linguistics, political science, psychology, public administration, and sociology. The fellowships are designed for researchers with advanced language skills whose research will require use of data, sources, and documents in their original languages or whose research requires interviews onsite in direct one-on-one contact. Fellows may undertake their projects in Japan, the United States, or both, and may include work in other countries for comparative purposes. Projects may be at any stage of development. Awards usually result in articles, monographs, books, digital materials, archaeological site reports, translations, editions, or other scholarly resources. NEH encourages submission of Fellowships for Advanced Social Science Research on Japan applications from faculty at Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Institutions with High Hispanic Enrollment, and Tribal Colleges and Universities.

Title:                            Gateway to College Program
Program:                     The Gateway to College National Network has funds available for partnerships between colleges and K-12 school districts to implement the Gateway to College dropout recovery program.

Gateway to College is a nationally recognized dual credit program that serves youth who have dropped out of school or are significantly behind in credits and unlikely to graduate. GtC classes are taught on the college campus. Students begin with the Foundation Experience, a learning community where students take developmental reading, writing, and math. After completing the Foundation Experience, students transition to regular college classes where they continue working toward their high school diploma and, simultaneously, an associate's degree.
