Title:                       Transforming STEM Learning (TSL)
Program:                  TSL combines interests and resources of separate programs in the Division of Research on Learning in Formal and Informal Settings (DRL) to explore the opportunities and challenges implied by innovative visions of the future for STEM learning.  The TSL program invites interdisciplinary teams of STEM content specialists, experts in relevant technologies, STEM formal and informal education specialists, researchers with expertise in the learning sciences, and specialists in education research and evaluation methods to submit proposals for research projects that (1) Study efficacy of existing prototypes for innovations like virtual schools, special STEM schools, and educational programs that combine opportunities of formal and informal learning resources in their communities; or (2) Design and conduct exploratory development of new potentially transformative models for STEM learning environments.  The cross-cutting proposals will draw from work in the four primary DRL programs: Discovery Research K-12 (DR K-12), Informal Science Education (ISE), Research and Evaluation on Education in Science and Engineering (REESE), and Innovative Technology Experiences for Students and Teachers (ITEST).  However, proposals submitted in response to this solicitation must have a scope that extends well beyond any of those programs individually.

Title:                       Modeling Social Behavior (R01)
Program:                  This FOA, issued by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) and the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), solicits applications for developing and testing innovative theories and computational, mathematical, or engineering approaches to deepen our understanding of complex social behavior. This research will examine phenomena at multiple scales to address the emergence of collective behaviors that arise from individual elements or parts of a system working together. This FOA will support research that explores the often complex and dynamical relationships among the parts of a system and between the system and its environment in order to understand the system as a whole.

Title:                       Academic-Community Partnership Conference Series (R13)
Program:                  The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) encourages Research Conference Grant (R13) applications to conduct health disparities-related meetings, workshops, and symposia. The purpose of the Academic-Community Partnership Conference Series is to bring together academic institutions/organizations and community organizations to identify opportunities for addressing health disparities through the use of Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR). The objectives of meetings conducted as part of this award will be to: (1) establish and/or enhance academic-community partnerships; (2) identify community-driven research priorities, and (3) develop long-term collaborative CBPR research agendas. Thus, it is expected these partnerships will lead to grant applications for the support of CBPR projects designed to meet identified community needs. The areas of focus for these partnerships may include one or more of the following community-health issues: infant mortality; Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS); fibroid tumors; childhood, adolescent, and/or adult obesity; health literacy; techniques for outreach and information dissemination; pediatric and maternal HIV/AIDS prevention; and violence prevention.

Title:                       Research and Evaluation on Violence Against Women: Sexual Violence, Stalking, and Teen Dating Violence
Program:                  NIJ seeks proposals for research and evaluation on specific issues related to sexual violence, stalking, and teen dating violence. The issue areas for sexual violence research are the criminal justice response to particular underserved populations, the development and testing of instruments with diverse populations, and testing of innovative interventions aimed at improving initial criminal justice responses to victims of sexual violence. Priority areas for research on stalking are evaluating offender interventions specific to stalking behavior by current or former intimate partners, and law enforcement and prosecutorial actions regarding particular stalking issues. In the area of teen dating violence (i.e., adolescent relationship abuse), applications are sought for additional waves of data for existing longitudinal projects.

Title:                       Public Health Services and Systems Research
Program:                  The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation has announced a call for proposals for its Public Health Services and Systems Research: Building Evidence for Decision-Making program.
The solicitation seeks to expand the evidence base for effective decision-making in public health practice and policy through research that utilizes natural experiments to respond to the questions defined in the National Agenda for Public Health Services and Systems Research.
Grants will support efforts to produce evidence that can inform public health practice and policy decisions by comparing systems with change in organizational structures, legal infrastructure, financing mechanisms, and service delivery strategies to systems without changes.
