Title: Dynamics of Coupled Natural & Human Systems
Program: The CNH Program aims to support basic research and related activities that enhance fundamental understanding of the complex interactions within and among natural and human systems, with special emphasis placed on the coupling between human and natural systems. Through its annual competitions, CNH intends to support three types of activities:
A. CNH Large Interdisciplinary Research Projects. Large interdisciplinary research projects may be supported by awards across a range of sizes from roughly $500,000 to no more than $1,500,000. Budgets should be developed at scales appropriate for the project to be conducted. Most projects will extend from two to five years in duration.
B. CNH Interdisciplinary Team Exploratory Projects. Support for exploratory efforts by emerging multidisciplinary teams is designed to facilitate the kinds of contact, interaction, and active research activities necessary to enable researchers from multiple fields to engage in effective interdisciplinary research. Emphasis is to be placed on the conduct of research and potential outcomes, not on the preparation of plans and proposals for future research. Exploratory projects may be supported in a range from roughly $150,000 to no more than $250,000. Most exploratory projects will extend from one to two years in duration.
C. CNH Research Coordination Networks (CNH-RCNs). Research coordination networks focusing on the dynamics of coupled natural and human systems will aim to advance CNH research or create new directions in research or education, with innovative ideas for implementing novel networking strategies especially encouraged. CNH-RCNs may be supported in a range from roughly $250,000 to no more than $500,000. CNH-RCNs will extend five years in duration.

Title: Advancing HIV Prevention through Transformative Behavioral and Social Science Research (R01)
Program: This Funding Opportunity Announcement encourages applications that will advance generalizable knowledge about HIV prevention through transformative behavioral and social science research. An underlying assumption for this funding opportunity is that methods of and findings from social and behavioral studies can make essential contributions to research that utilizes biomedical modalities. In addition, biomedical perspectives are essential for the advancement of social and behavioral HIV research on HIV prevention. Therefore, this FOA invites studies that are comprehensive in the sense that the reciprocal influences of relevant variables, whether social, behavioral, or biomedical are included in study design and interpretation. This FOA is intended to address the goals of the National HIV AIDS Strategy, and therefore studies should address issues that are highly relevant to the domestic (i.e., United States) HIV problem.

Title: Statewide Longitudinal Data System (SLDS)
Program: The National Center for Education Statistics, under the Institute of Education Sciences, invites State educational agencies to apply for grants to assist them in developing and implementing statewide, longitudinal data systems in the FY12 SLDS competition.
Applicants may apply for funds to carry out projects to address one of the three following priorities:
*to design, develop, and implement a statewide, longitudinal kindergarten through grade 12 (K-12) data system
*to develop and link early childhood data with the State’s K-12 data system
*to develop and link postsecondary and/or workforce data with the State’s K-12 data system.
The Institute will award grants of no more than $5 million for Priority 1 and grants of no more than $4 million for Priorities 2 and 3. Eligible State educational agencies may submit applications to address only one of the three priorities. Applications that address more than one priority will not be considered responsive to this Request for Applications and will not be considered.
Only State educational agencies are eligible to apply.

Title: Scholarly Editions and Translations
Program: Scholarly Editions and Translations grants support the preparation of editions and translations of pre-existing texts and documents that are currently inaccessible or available in inadequate editions. These grants support full-time or part-time activities for periods of a minimum of one year up to a maximum of three years. Projects must be undertaken by a team of at least one editor or translator and one other staff member. Grants typically support editions and translations of significant literary, philosophical, and historical materials, but other types of work, such as musical notation, are also eligible.

Title: Conferences, Outreach and Networking for New Energy Communities and Technology (CONNECT)
Program: The Advanced Research Projects Agency - Energy (ARPA-E) is an agency within the Department of Energy (DOE) that has funded the development and deployment of transformational and disruptive energy technologies and systems since 2009. ARPA-E focuses on high-risk concepts with potentially high rewards. Program: International Fellowships are awarded for full-time study or research in the United States to women who are not United States citizens or permanent residents. Title: Ford Foundation Dissertation Fellowships/Predoctoral
Program: Predoctoral: In 2012, the Ford Fellowship program will award approximately 60 predoctoral fellowships. The predoctoral fellowships provide three years of support for individuals engaged in graduate study leading to a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Doctor of Science (Sc.D.) degree.
Predoctoral fellowships will be awarded in a national competition administered by the National Research Council (NRC) on behalf of the Ford Foundation. The awards will be made to individuals who, in the judgment of the review panels, have demonstrated superior academic achievement, are committed to a career in teaching and research at the college or university level, show promise of future achievement as scholars and teachers, and are well prepared to use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students.
Dissertation: This year the program will award approximately 35 dissertation fellowships. The dissertation fellowships provide one year of support for individuals working to complete a dissertation leading to a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Doctor of Science (Sc.D.) degree.
Dissertation fellowships will be awarded in a national competition administered by the National Research Council (NRC) on behalf of the Ford Foundation. The awards will be made to individuals who, in the judgment of the review panels, have demonstrated superior academic achievement, are committed to a career in teaching and research at the college or university level, show promise of future achievement as scholars and teachers, and are well prepared to use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students.
Fellowships are tenable at any fully accredited, nonprofit U.S. institution of higher education offering a Ph.D. or Sc.D. degree in the eligible fields of study.
