Title:                            EHR Core Research (ECR)
Program:                     The ECR program establishes a mechanism in the Directorate for Education and Human Resources to provide funding in foundational research areas that are broad, essential and enduring. EHR seeks proposals that will help synthesize, build and/or expand research foundations in the following core areas: STEM learning, STEM learning environments, workforce development, and broadening participation in STEM. We invite researchers to identify and conduct research on questions or issues in order to advance the improvement of STEM learning in general, or to address specific challenges of great importance. Two types of proposals are invited: Core Research Proposal s(maximum 5 years, $1.5 million) that propose to study a foundational research question/issue designed to inform the transformation of STEM learning and education and Capacity Building Proposals (maximum 3 years, $300,000) intended to support groundwork necessary for advancing research within the four core areas.

Funding Source:         California EPA/Air Resources Board
Title:                            The California Air Resources Board (ARB) is extending the deadline for its solicitation for brief research ideas from the general public as part of its 2014-2015 research planning process.  Research ideas submitted by the previous deadline (January 31, 2013) do not need to be re-submitted; all submissions will be evaluated after the new May 31, 2013 deadline. Research ideas are limited to 200 words and should very clearly articulate why the idea is relevant to ARB’s policies and/or programs.  It should include clearly stated research objective(s), a very brief description of methods that could or would be employed, and what the final product or deliverable of the research would be.  Information on time and funding needed to conduct the research is helpful but not required.  You may wish to review ARB’s programs or previous research plans.  Only ideas that clearly demonstrate policy relevance to ARB will be considered.

Title;                            IHR Research Clusters 2013-14
Program:                     This program is designed to encourage and support research in any area of the Humanities. In addition to programming (e.g., conferences, workshops, seminars, visiting scholars), we encourage the clusters to view this as seed funding and to think about ways the cluster can serve as an incubator for larger projects in the future (e.g., websites and other digital projects, edited volumes, the establishment of research centers, NEH Summer Seminars, UC multi-campus research groups etc.) and how they can leverage cluster funds to secure extramural funding. Preference will be given to clusters that have not already received multiple years of funding, though all proposals will be considered.
Deadline:                    May 24, 2013
