Your gift supports undergraduate students in the environmental studies major who are advancing the study of climate adaptation and justice.
Donations enable students with financial need and a robust academic record to continue their studies, reducing financial barriers to completing their four-year degree. This award also aims to support first-generation students in these pursuits.
Each year, an award will be made to a student by the faculty chair of the Environmental Studies Department in the Division of Social Sciences.
This award honors the founding of the Environmental Studies Department, including Chancellor Dean McHenry, Academic Vice Chancellor Grant McConnell, Chairperson Richard Cooley and founding College Eight Administrator, Adjunct Professor Stanley Cain; the decade of faculty, staff, and students of the 1970s; and the Awaswas-speaking Uypi Tribe, the original environmental stewards of the unceded land that is now home to the department.
