Center for Economic Justice and Action

The Center for Economic Justice and Action (CEJA), formerly Blum Center, specializes in community-engaged, anti-poverty research that seeks to alleviate poverty, promote financial equity, and strengthen food and housing security. Our work includes leading the University of California’s Essential Needs Research, Training, and Promising Practices Consortium, which provides training, education, and research grants to enhance students’ basic needs security.

Donating to our center’s unrestricted fund helps us partner with community organizations and UCSC student researchers to provide tools and resources to challenge inequities and change systems. Your gift allows us to continue vital research on programs and strategies that help low-income individuals, women and families, communities of color, and people experiencing homelessness. It also enables us to strengthen our research partnerships with units across campus, including the Psychology Department and Community Studies Program.
