Your gift provides permanent funding for the Dr. Aaronette White Scholarship, an award for undergraduate psychology students studying social psychology.
This award is given based on financial need and academic achievement, with preference given to students who seek to further our understanding of how intersectionality impacts lived experience with respect to social identities and race, ethnicity, culture, nationality, and gender.
This fund and scholarship is named in honor of Associate Professor of Psychology Aaronette White, who passed away in 2012. White was a brilliant scholar and fierce social justice activist whose ground-breaking contributions influenced several fields, including psychology, women’s studies, and African studies. Some of her principal areas of scholarship included political violence and peacebuilding, Black feminist theory and practice, and social justice pedagogies in higher education. She was a pioneering activist in anti-rape, intersectional feminist, and anti-racism movements.
