With all of the choices for college, what made UC Santa Cruz stand out?

I was especially drawn to UC Santa Cruz due to its beautiful campus, brilliant professors and academic achievements. I felt that UC Santa Cruz was the right fit for me as someone who cares deeply about the Environment and Education, and to this day know that I made the right choice in choosing this university.

What is your field of focus?
I am an Environmental Studies major and Education minor.

What do you hope to do once you graduate from UC Santa Cruz?

Once I graduate from UC Santa Cruz, I hope to attend graduate school here in the Education Masters/Credential Program to pursue my dreams of becoming an educator.

What is one memorable moment that stands out for you as a student here?

One memorable moment that stands out for me as a student here was my first education class, in which immediately solidified my desires to become an educator. As an Environmental Studies major, I feel as though my education classes are extremely significant in helping me learn to utilize my studies in a way that greatly benefits my community and future students.

What does this scholarship mean to you?

This scholarship is incredibly important to my dreams of becoming an educator, as the funds will go directly to supporting my tuition. With the help of the ENVS Special Opportunity Award, I will be able to continue my education here at UC Santa Cruz as an undergraduate with the aspiration to complete my Master’s in education here as well. As an incredibly dedicated student, I know that this scholarship will help me achieve my academic goals and give back to the community of Santa Cruz as a future educator.
