How to Add a Network Printer on Windows via IP Address or Hostname
1. Click the Start menu icon and type “printers” in the search box. Select Printers & scanners to go straight to the Settings options.

2. Click the Add device button.

3. Wait for an option to appear that says “The printer that I want isn’t listed.” You may need to scroll down to see it. Click “Add a new device manually” to advance to the next window.

4. The window opens for “Find a printer by other options.” Select “Add a printer using an IP address or hostname” and click Next.

5. Change the Device Type to “TCP/IP Device” using the drop-down menu.

6. Here are images of Hostnames or IP Addresses and where to find them on printers. Choose one of these from the printer you want to install.
Below is an image of the Hostname the computing team taped to a printer and the IP address that appears on the screen of the printer. Just choose one and write it down.

7. On the screen for “Type a printer hostname or IP address,” enter the Hostname or IP address from your printer.
- Port name: field should automatically fill in when you type the Hostname.
- Check the box next to Query the printer and automatically select the driver to use, then click Next.

8. When asked to “Install the printer driver” click the Have Disk… button.

9. Under Copy manufacturer’s files from, click Browse… and navigate to C:\Xerox

10. In the Xerox driver directory, select x3UNIVX.inf and click Open.

11. Click OK to confirm, and then click Next to install the driver.
Then, enter a convenient Printer Name. This can be anything, as long or short as you like.

12. For printer sharing, select “Do not share this printer” and click Next.

13. When prompted, check the box for “Set as the default printer” (if desired) and click Finish.

That’s it – congratulations! You’ve added the printer, and it will be selected by default whenever you print.
To add another printer, simply follow these steps again using the next printer’s Hostname or IP Address.
