Professor Emeritus of Education Art Pearl wins 2011 Distinguished Social Sciences Emeriti Faculty Award

Dr. Art Pearl has been selected as the winner of the 2011 Distinguished Social Sciences Emeriti Faculty Award for his service as an elder statesman and advocate for education in the public interest. We honor his success and lasting impact as a researcher, leader, scholar, author, teacher and mentor; and his important and inspirational contributions to civil rights, social justice, and public education.

The Distinguished Social Sciences Emeriti Faculty Award is presented annually to an emeriti faculty member who has excelled not only in his or her scholarly, educational, or creative endeavors during his or her career and retirement, but who has continued to make noteworthy and meritorious contributions to UC Santa Cruz and the broader community.

Pearl's record of achievement and active engagement as an important member of the academic community merit special commendation and thanks. His commitment and vision embody the spirit of this award. We publicly honored him and presented him with this award in April 2011.
