The Communications & Marketing team produces a variety of materials for the Division of Social Sciences and provides support for departments, centers, labs, projects, and individuals across the division.

Media Relations
- Writing and distributing press releases
- Coordinating in response to media requests
- Notifying journalists about experts who can speak to current events
- Supporting faculty op-ed articles and other media submissions
- Training experts to communicate effectively with journalists and the public
- Monitoring and sharing media coverage related to the division.
Marketing
- Photography, video production, and graphic design support
- Marketing materials (newsletters, invitations, brochures, banners, etc.)
- Editorial assistance (writing, editing, proofreading)

- Electronic and web-based marketing solutions, including social media

Find additional website help, including training, guides, and WordPress support, through the ITS site. Our division's website is the digital face of our academic community. Ensure your web presence is not only informative but also visually appealing and user-friendly. The Marketing Specialist and the Web Development Coordinator can support you in various phases of your website development according to area of expertise:

Social media strategy
The Division is currently on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. We’re always looking for opportunities to share posts on units within the Social Sciences. Reach out to the Marketing Specialist to discuss opportunities to collaborate on social media.
Other social media accounts affiliated with the division must complete a social media consultation before opening accounts. Schedule your social media consultation by reaching out to the Marketing Specialist. General guidelines for strategic social media communications that must be met to open an account:
- Ability to post 2-3 times a week with relevant, quality images, graphics, and copy.
- Dedicated professional staff time to directly manage and oversee postings, responding to comments and messages, and related activities, including strategy sessions.
- Commitment to upholding branding standards.
- Permanent operation of the University, not time-bound projects or initiatives.
