With all of the choices for college, what made UC Santa Cruz stand out?

UC Santa Cruz was the only school I visited that was different from other schools. Whether it be the beautiful campus, diverse student body or its active political activist participation there really is no other campus as unique.

What is your field of focus?

I wrote my thesis on gay-to-straight conversion therapy because it is something I feel passionate about.

What do you hope to do once you graduate from UC Santa Cruz?

I will be attending Golden Gate University School of Law to pursue my law degree with a concentration in Human Rights and Sexuality Law with the hopes of making progress in gaining rights for sexual minorities.

What is one memorable moment that stands out for you as a student here?

One of my most memorable moments was joining the UCSC Women’s Rugby team and meeting an amazing group of women who still remain some of my closest friends.

What is your one piece of advice for incoming students about life at UC Santa Cruz?

It’s okay to not know what you want to major in or what you want to do after graduation, if you have a hunger to change the status quo and the drive to work hard to attain it then the rest will fall into place. This coming from someone who changed their major 4 times before declaring the Legal Studies major.

How will this scholarship impact your academic life/research?

This scholarship will aid me in my transition to law school in San Francisco.
