With all of the choices for college, what made UC Santa Cruz stand out? The college system and the interdisciplinary approach taken in many of the major departments. I chose the best one yet: Environmental Studies!

What is your field of focus? Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems

What do you hope to do once you graduate from UC Santa Cruz? I already gained so much from attending UCSC. I gained incredible mentors through my internship and research experience who have been really supportive in helping me plan my next steps after college.

What is one memorable moment that stands out for you as a student here? Hearing Dolores Huerta speak not once but twice- as a speaker for the Cesar Chavez convocation my freshmen year and when she was a guest speaker for college 9/10 Programs.

How will this scholarship impact your academic life /research? I anticipate that in my next steps to applying to graduate school my future advisor/s will have an interest in working with me given that I have proven my ability to carry out research so early on.
