Where do you call home?

San Jose, California.

What is your field of focus?

Business, Economics, but primarily pursuing Accounting

With all of the choices for college, what made UC Santa Cruz stand out?

I chose UC Santa Cruz for the unique attitude and challenging methodology that it upholds. There's no other campus quite just it.

What do you hope to do once you graduate from UC Santa Cruz?

My biggest and immediate dream is to work for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in San Jose. There is no other firm that is nearly as competitive and globally distinguished as Price, which has been recognized for its legacy of ambitious employees.

What do you hope to do once you graduate from UC Santa Cruz?

Before graduating, my one wish is that I will have done enough to have left a stamp on the community at UC Santa Cruz. Through all my positions in college, I wish that I will have given back enough to my community as they have given to me, and that if I walk away even with just one person remembering who I was and how I helped them, then I've fulfilled my duty as a proactive scholar.

What is one memorable moment that stands out for you as a student here?

During my time as a teaching practicum for introductory accounting, just as the quarter ended, I received multiple voluntary emails from students appreciating what I had done for them as a tutor. It was an emotional moment. It instilled confidence in my role as a tutor, and it was then, that made me the person that I am today.

How will this scholarship/award impact your academic life/research?

Beyond any fiscal means, to be recognized through Professor Shepherd's name holds the most value dear to my heart. Robert has made and reached unimaginable feats for the business and accounting students here in Santa Cruz. His efforts are the only reason that I have received this scholarship today, and I thank him for his efforts. Through the funds, I wish to excel even further as an academic scholar and maybe one day, become an accounting instructor.
