What Award/ Scholarship did you receive? Valerie Fuette Scholarship.

What year do you expect to graduate? December 2022.

Where do you call home? Santa Cruz, once again.

With all of the choices for college, what made UC Santa Cruz stand out? I had originally begun my college path at UCSC in Fall of 1987. When I was able to return to school, it was extremely meaningful to be able to finally graduate from the college I started at.

What is your field of focus? Politics / Legal Studies

What do you hope to do once you graduate from UC Santa Cruz? I would like to apply to law school but I may need to start working again right away.

What is one memorable moment that stands out for you as a student here? I still treasure the experience I had with friends when I was first attending of us painting the Dow of Pooh book cover on the Merrill moat. It was also extremely exciting when I went to my first in-person class at UCSC in almost 30 years last fall!

What is your one piece of advice for incoming students about life at UC Santa Cruz? The University is extremely supportive and creates an encouraging environment.  Be sure to seek help if you need it and don’t let things get away from you.  It is easy to feel overwhelmed but there are a lot of resources to help.

How will this scholarship impact your academic life /research? This scholarship will enable me to take classes this summer so that I will be able finish my joint Politics / Legal Studies majors by December 2022.  I am extremely appreciative.
