With all of the choices for college, what made UC Santa Cruz stand out? Firstly, the campus stood out to me as it’s the most beautiful campus that I toured. Secondly, I knew I wanted to go to a school with good research programs and chose UCSC based on that.

What is your field of focus? My field of focus is currently studying power dynamics within same sex relationships.

What do you hope to do once you graduate from UC Santa Cruz? I hope to pursue a PhD in Clinical Psychology.

What is one memorable moment that stands out for you as a student here? I think the first week on campus was one of the most memorable for me. I instantly felt a sense of community and felt at home.

What is your one piece of advice for incoming students about life at UC Santa Cruz? I would really recommend getting involved in research especially with faculty who align with your interests, it’s the best decision I’ve made since coming to UCSC.

How will this scholarship impact your academic life /research? This scholarship will help me tremendously to pay off medical bills and to be able to focus on research as I no longer have to rush to graduate due to cost.
