What Award/ Scholarship did you receive?  The Milam-McGinty-Kaun Award.

What quarter/year do you expect to graduate? I plan to finish my dissertation in 2025.

Where do you call home? Oakland, though I was born and raised in Eagle Rock/Los Angeles.

With all of the choices for college, what made UC Santa Cruz stand out? I attended UCSC as an undergraduate from 2010-2014, and I knew that for graduate school I would be returning to a warm and intellectually stimulating Sociology department as well as many good memories among the redwoods!

What is your field of focus? Cultural studies and political feelings.

What do you hope to do once you graduate from UC Santa Cruz? I hope to continue teaching Sociology and pursuing my passions for research and art (photography, film, ceramics).

What is one memorable moment that stands out for you as a student here? Seeing Angela Davis speak, as well as Ursula K. Le Guin!

What is your one piece of advice for incoming students about life at UC Santa Cruz? Spend as much time as you possibly can exploring nature with good friends!

How will this scholarship impact your academic life /research? This scholarship will help fund my research over the summer, allowing me to attend various events relevant to my project and to travel for interviews and archives.
