Call for Applications: The Gabriel Zimmerman Memorial Scholarship
About the Award
Who can apply: UG majors in the social sciences (Anthropology, Community Studies, Economics, Education, Environmental Studies, Latin American & Latino Studies, Legal Studies, Politics, Psychology, and Sociology)
How to apply: Submit your unofficial transcript, a resume, and short essay (2-3 pages maximum) to your UG Advisor outlining your passion for social issues and demonstrated commitment to public service. Departments will review all applications before forwarding to the review committee convened by the Dean of Social Sciences.
When to apply: A call for applications will go out in late February or early March. Check with your UG Advisor for your Department’s Deadline.

About the award:
The Gabriel Zimmerman Memorial Scholarship provides financial support to UCSC undergraduate students in the social sciences who have a demonstrated committment to public service and are in excellent academic standing.
The award was named after alumnus Gabriel “Gabe” Zimmerman (Stevenson, '02, sociology). He was working for Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords as her Director of Community Outreach when he was tragically shot and killed. Read more >
