With all of the choices for college, what made UC Santa Cruz stand out? The Master's In Education program's focus on social justice attracted me to complete my teacher credential here In Santa Cruz.

What is your field of focus? Education

What do you hope to do once you graduate from UC Santa Cruz? I plan to work in public schools as a social studies teacher.

What is one memorable moment that stands out for you as a student here? After the 2016 presidential election, my teachers and colleagues came together to critically discuss the current state, and future, of U.S. society.

How will this scholarship impact your academic life/research? Nancy Matlock is an inspiration to me as a teacher. After working with her son Jeff, and reading her words on the importance of teaching, I am renewed in my commitment to teaching.
