What Award/Scholarship did you receive? Federico and Rena Perlino Award

What year do you expect to graduate? I expect to graduate Spring 2020.

Where do you call home? Visalia, California

With all of the choices for college, what made UC Santa Cruz stand out? I really liked how supportive the faculty and staff are, and how strong of a community there is. It is an excellent place to do cutting-edge research, and I could not pass up the opportunity to do so.

What is your field of focus? My research is in the field of psychology.

What do you hope to do once you graduate from UC Santa Cruz? I hope to go into academia and pass on what I have learned here at UCSC.

What is one memorable moment that stands out for you as a student here? My most memorable moment is participating in Grad Slam at UCSC. It was an excellent experience presenting my research in 3-minute talk format.

What is your one piece of advice for incoming students about life at UC Santa Cruz? My advice would be to take advantage of every opportunity!

How will this scholarship impact your academic life/research? This award will allow me to collect data over summer, which will allow me to conduct research in a timely manner. I will be able to focus on writing up my research as well.
