With all of the choices for college, what made UC Santa Cruz stand out? UC Santa Cruz stood out to me because of its beautiful campus and sense of community among undergraduate students. There are so many opportunities for students to get involved in projects and research outside of the classroom!
What is your field of focus? While my major is Cognitive Science, much of my research and interests are in Developmental Psychology.
What do you hope to do once you graduate from UC Santa Cruz? After I graduate from UC Santa Cruz, I will continue working on research and ultimately pursue a graduate program in psychology.
What is one memorable moment that stands out for you as a student here? For me, some of the most memorable moments have been the discussions between students and instructors in the classes I have taken here at UCSC.
What is your one piece of advice for incoming students about life at UC Santa Cruz? My one piece of advice is to take advantage of instructor and graduate student office hours. By attending office hours and asking how to get involved in research, I was able to make connections with research labs and become a research assistant.
How will this scholarship impact your academic life/research? This scholarship has provided me with the opportunity to develop my skills as a writer and as a researcher. I will put the funding from this scholarship back into developing my research projects!
