With all of the choices for college, what made UC Santa Cruz stand out?  The Sociology department Faculty.

What is your field of focus?  Sociology, Gender, Race, and Class, specifically in a study of plastic surgery.

What do you hope to do once you graduate from UC Santa Cruz? Garner a Post Doc position and a job at a research 1 institution.

What is one memorable moment that stands out for you as a student here?  Teaching my own class was an amazingly memorable experience.

What is your one piece of advice for incoming students about life at UC Santa Cruz?  Find mentors, find your community, build connections and collaborations that help you survive.

How will this scholarship impact your academic life /research?  During this immense time of need and social heartbreak, this scholarship is both a recognition of my work and a promise for a brighter future.
