With all of the choices for college, what made UC Santa Cruz stand out? I chose UCSC because of its beautiful natural environment. With a campus nestled in redwoods and the beach a short drive away, UCSC has got to be one of the most unique and picturesque colleges out there. I grew up in a town with not much nature or diversity so coming here has really been a welcome change.
What is your field of focus? Business Management Economics – Accounting Emphasis
What do you hope to do once you graduate from UC Santa Cruz? I hope to get a CPA license and start working as an auditor in an accounting firm. Later on in life, I’d love to try my hand at living in another state or country since accounting seems like a field that can be practiced everywhere.
What is one memorable moment that stands out for you as a student here? One memorable moment that stands out for me is staying up to watch the sunrise at OPERS for the first time. It was so cold but so worth it.
What is your one piece of advice for incoming students about life at UC Santa Cruz? Don’t be afraid to reach out to professors and ask questions in class. I know it can be intimidating but they are valuable resources and there to help you.
How will this scholarship impact your academic life /research? This scholarship gives me motivation to continue working hard. I think that’s especially difficult with COVID happening right now and classes being online, but being recognized for my efforts motivates me to power through it. Furthermore, this scholarship will help relieve some of the financial burden of school.
