With all of the choices for college, what made UC Santa Cruz stand out? I choose UC Santa Cruz because it is the only school that offers “Community Studies” which is the study that I am passionate about.
What is your field of focus? My field is focused on health, social, environmental and economic Justice.
What do you hope to do once you graduate from UC Santa Cruz? I hope to work in an organization or non-profit doing community outreach.
What is one memorable moment that stands out for you as a student here? One memorable moment that stands out for me is when I was on the student panel for the UMOJA community incoming freshman. I used that opportunity to tell great things about school to students and their parents. I gave them a wisdom talk on how to succeed in their academics at UCSC and be young. At the same time, I was able to tell them about my program - Community Studies and its importance to our society.
What is your one piece of advice for incoming students about life at UC Santa Cruz? My advice for the incoming students is for them to get involved in school activities and communities, while at the same time maintaining the hard work that their courses entail.
How will this scholarship impact your academic life /research? The scholarship will go a long way to help me achieve my goals by allowing access to get all the materials needed for courses.
