2019: Linking Science to Just Action
Climate Science & Policy Conference 2019
The Coastal Science and Policy Program and the Divisions of Physical & Biological Sciences and Social Sciences hosted the sixth annual Climate Science and Policy Conference on April 11, 2019.
The overarching theme was "Climate Justice: Linking Science to Just Action." Presentations focused on environmental equity, climate change and climate action.
The event featured presentations by Gary Griggs, professor of Earth Sciences at UCSC, Alvaro Sanchez, Direcotor of Environmental Equity at the Greenlining Institute, Vien Truong, CEO at Green for All, and Tiffany Wise-West, Sustainability and Climate Action Manager of the City of Santa Cruz. Katharyne Mitchell, UCSC Dean of Social Sciences gave the opening remarks. Anne Kapuscinski, UCSC Director of the Coastal Science & Policy Program, served as the event's Moderator, and Paul Koch, UCSC Dean of Physical and Biological Sciences gave the closing remarks.
